Engineering Clean Water Solutions Worldwide
Of all of the water on Earth, only 2.5 percent of it is fresh. When accessibility and cleanliness are factored in, it becomes clear that there truly is a clean water scarcity.
Every day around 1,400 children worldwide die from diseases caused by a lack of clean drinking water. At Symbiont, our engineers and constructors know water treatment and know that funding for simple solutions (drilled wells, BioSand filters) can help. To commemorate Symbiont’s 38th year, we pledged our birthday to raise funds that will build clean water projects around the world.
Since the amendments to the Clean Water Act in 1972 and the emergence of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) NPDES National Pretreatment Program, clean water has become something most of us take for granted. At Symbiont, our work has historically been driven by clean water solutions and generating energy from waste sources, thereby maintaining the integrity of local waterways.
Our birthday donation far exceeded our expectations – at $4,340. This will provide clean drinking water to 144 people for the first time in their lives. As the work kicks off, we’ll be receiving information from charity:water on the project we sponsored, the work on the ground, and photos of the finished project. We’re grateful to the generous individuals who helped bring our 38th year to a global level.
